As we approach the special celebrations where we gather friends and family at the end of the calendar year, it appears that rather than encouraging the reflections on the areas of the past year that are blessings, those individuals and entities in high influential places are continuing to instill fear in the populace. COVID seems to be all they can address unless they are focused on the election results.
Does anyone find it strange that we are free to shop, gamble or purchase liquor. We can go to a restaurant or markets, etc. where food is served but we cannot gather in family settings or church settings where we might, God forbid, engage in active relationships with one another. The question becomes who decides. Who is controlling my choices?
Let me be clear. With my Microbiology background I am well aware of the ocean of microbes that inhabit the air we breathe and the water we drink. Yes there are viruses and bacterium that are in the air, and naturally in our bodies. But I am also aware of this wonderful creation called the human body that contains within it the ability to survive many challenges, IF we take the personal responsibility to care for it with good nutrition, healthy exercise, adequate rest and minimal stress.
Dr. Christiana Northrup recently presented this tidbit in her weekly newsletter:
“We are born with only 2 fears—the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises (your “acoustic reflex”). Despite having only these 2 fears, studies show the documented number of human fears is closer to 7,000. I am not surprised by this number. Fear is an adaptive behavior.
“Too much fear or anxiety on a regular basis can be the root cause of illness, both psychological and physical. This is true because the biochemical state that fear creates in your body adversely affects your immunity and increases your susceptibility to viruses and bacteria that are all around you.”
I am reminded of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s famous statement, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Add to this the FACT that all the mandates, guidelines and considerations are NOT laws listed in the Revised Statutes Annotated. Thus they are NOT enforceable. They can be weaponized due to regulations by licensing agencies, and therein lies a major problem.
It was Benjamin Franklin who reminded the people that
“Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
The bullies who want to restrict your freedoms will only stop when a line is draw
n in the sand. At some point the courage to take that stand must be taken. It is called in the current climate of COVID – 19 “civil disobedience”. What is this?
“A form of social protest, involving the active but non-violent refusal to obey certain laws, demands, or commands of an established authority, because they are considered to be morally wrong or detrimental.” The American Heritage Dictionary
